Ratings go down, JONAS moves to Sundays
Apparently, tween girls have something better to do on Saturday nights than watch the Jonas Brothers. And that better thing turns out to be watching iCarly.
The brothers’ Disney channel sitcom, inspired by such wacky 1960s shows as The Monkees, debuted in May to an impressive 4 million viewers in the US – it was no Hannah Montana, sure, but it was a solid start. Only a week later, however, JONAS tumbled to 2.2 million viewers, apparently trounced in the ratings by Nickelodeon’s iCarly special, which attracted a whopping 6.5 million viewers. Now Nick, Joe and Kevin have been off the air for the last two weeks, prompting many to wonder if JONAS was heading for the Disney rubbish pile.
But perk up, teenagers – E! News reports that the Jonas Brothers’ show has not been cancelled. A spokesperson for the Disney Channel explained that JONAS is now being moved to Sunday nights (where the cruel iCarly can no longer hurt it). The show will now air after Demi Lovato’s Sonny with a Chance, which airs after Miley Cyrus’ Hannah Montana, which itself was just renewed for a fourth season. Got all that? And since it’s on Sunday nights, there’s really no excuse for you Jonas fans to miss it – it’s a school night, after all. Unless you’re a Canadian fan – JONAS is not currently airing north of the border.
